While Boading Our Flight for Singapore......

April 19, 2005 (5:35pm) - Singapore - Report submitted by Joe Hurston

We were all in the "Get Home" mode when my cell phone went off in the terminal building in Medan just prior to departure. The call was from the U.N. Remember a couple of days ago, the U.N. gave us a "Heli" lift to one of the sunken villages? Well, they saw the Vortex Voyagers TM. Word spread and the call was for an urgent need for a Vortex Voyager TM back on Nias. Cindy and I looked at each other and we both knew that I would bring in a Vortex Voyager TM. We both remembered that we had left one unit on Singapore for a later deployment. Here was the need! I flew with Cindy and the rest of the team to Singapore. Made arrangements for a return flite to Medan, Indonesia and sadly watched Cindy, Ben, Cherie, Angelica, Barbara and Chris head for the long flight home. I've checked into the hotel at the airport and tomorrow morning will head back to Medan then to Nias island. We're really honored that the urgent request came through and that we were able to respond so quickly. We know the conditions on Nias are dreadful. After just a couple of hours of trudging through the rice paddies and trekking into villages heat exhaustion/stroke can quickly set in. This is exactly what the Vortex Voyager TM was designed for. Of course, once on the island, it's nearly impossible to get any communications out. Please remember to pray for the Air Mobile Team heading home and for me as I return to the "battle". Will write when I can. GOD BLESS YOU ALL and THANKS again for your prayer.

Joe

PS - Cherie was able to download a lot of shots. Upon returning, she'll get them up on the web as quickly as possible. Love you all!!

Joe
